Center for advising, support and informing CASI “Romani“ opened


Croatian Employment Service, Regional office Zagreb as a part of the project „Better Perspective of Roma Women in the Labour Market“ together with partners from the City of Zagreb and other partners opened Center for advising, support and informing CASI “Romani“ , in Zagreb, Alfirevićeva 6. Space and refurbishing was ensured by the city of Zagreb while office furniture and computer equipment were ensured form the EU funds. Associate on the project, Berufsförderungsinstitut from Austria donated furniture for a classroom in the Center. Project activities and other services for unemployed Roma women will be conducted in the Centre, as a part of their training for an independent job search and inclusion in the labour market.
Educated job coaches will work at the Center, which will offer beneficiaries and other interested Roma women individual help and assistance. Besides offering individual help in preparing for employment, other services will be offered as well: daily informing on vacancies, writing motivation letters and CV's and sending them to employers, informing on solving everyday issues. At the official opening of the CASI „Romani“, there were beneficiaries of the project with their families present, together with employers and representatives of the City, the Government, local government and public institutions. Mr.Branko Sočanac supported the project by saying that every activity directed at raising competitiveness of Roma community is extremely important and needs support from all relevant stakeholders. 
The head of Croatian Employment Service Mrs.Ankica Paun Jarallah pointed out at the opening that this project is unique in its structure and opens doors not only to Roma women but also to other marginalised groups for easier and faster inclusion in education, strenghtening competitiveness and developing skills for  independent inclusion in the labour market. Mrs.Ramiza Memedi, project partner, commendated all project activities and pointed out that more focus has to be directed to employers with the aim of efficient employment of Roma women.
The official opening of the CASI „Romani“ was led by Mrs.Višnja Fortuna, head of city office for social care and people with dissabilities and said that opening of the Center is only the beginning of activities City has intended as a part of an array of measures aimed at developing active social policies of the City of Zagreb, and added that through this project Roma woman was put in the center and became a subject in creating her own future.
At the official opening of the Center, 10 Roma women which have successfully finished training for computer operator in the course of 120 hours and acquired first occupation, received certificates of acquired occupation which is noted in employment certificate.
